Self assessment reminders and payslips – January 2016

01 January 2016

An update on the changes to SA reminders and payslips

Further to the update in December’s Technical Newsdesk, HMRC will not be issuing paper SA reminders and payslips for taxpayers who file in January 2016, or for those taxpayers opting to use digital SA communications. Payment options available without a payslip are by debit or credit card, CHAPS or BACS online or through telephone banking.

Payment by cheque through the post is available but only with a paying-in slip. If you do not have a slip you can print one but this cannot be used to for a counter payment at a bank, building society or post office.

Taxpayers who filed their return before 31 December 2015 will receive a paper SA statement and payslip in January which they will be able to use to make payments over the counter at banks, building societies and post offices.

Further details on how to pay can be found on GOV.UK.
